Let the dead bury their own dead. Does that even make sense? Not physically, but spiritually it does. Jesus was not really in the habit of saying stuff that was crazy - crazy in the way people lived their lives maybe, but it all made sense.
But, that’s not the point. He’s talking about following Him, and if we let stuff get in the way it won’t work. He has to be first- not money, not pride, not pickleball, not pleasure, not trips, not sporting events, not food, not pop - Him.
As I go through the day, He is first priority. I make all decisions with a “What should I do Jesus” lens.
Do I actually do that? No one does. But, that’s what He’s saying. Unless He is the main priority, it’s not gonna work.
